Special Artist Focus: Huntress – Interview with Jill Janis
For a relatively new entry to the metal scene, LA-based Huntress have already gotten the kind of exposure most bands only wishfully dream of during the demo process. The melodic death metal group only last month dropped their debut full-length Spell Eater (Napalm Records) but already grabbed 2 lucrative spots on the road. First they were added to the 2012 installment of the popular Paganfest tour and followed right up with an opening spot on DragonForce’s first US tour in 3 years. Hell 3 years ago, Huntress were barely starting out as a group. But that certainly doesn’t mean they hit the stage (and the road) without a gameplan. The hard work is already paying off with a headlining spot at the Bay Area’s world famous Tidal Wave, the largest free metal show in the US happening on July 14th at McLaren Park’s Jerry Garcia Amphitheatre in San Francisco. KSJS caught up with the band’s leader Jill Janus (also known as DJ Tuesdae to her Playboy fans) for a quick chat at the DNA Lounge discussing the debut album, Tidal Wave and even the results of Russian band Arkona meeting a plate of chicken wings.
