Rey Resurreccion’s “Chasin Dreams” #1 on KSJS Urban Top 40
This week Rey Resurreccion celebrated his birthday, but also had the #1 Urban track on 90.5FM KSJS. Rey had previously held this position on the charts with tracks such as “Be Easy” , “Saturday”, “Fly Away”, “Hometown” & “Spaceships”. He has easily become one of the most consistent emcees in independent hip-hop. Not only personifying the culture of branding yourself in today’s market of hypebeasts, fads and swag rappers. Rey has always had his own sound, and stayed true to his roots.

Following key tours with Hieroglyphics crew, and later with Bambu on the Rent Money tour, Rey has always put San Jose and the South Bay on the map. He has linked with key media and fashion outfits, Clout Magazine, Breezy Excursion and Cukui Clothing, as well as working with talented producers such as The Bangerz, Nima Fadavi, REL, ChexMex, etc. This track, “Chasin Dreams” is the first collaboration by Rey with Brooklyn-based producer, The Audible Doctor of the Brown Bag AllStars crew. Check out the video above, and its position on this week’s KSJS Urban Top 40
The #2 track in our rotation this week, is by Sacramento emcee, C Plus. C Plus is no stranger to the Urban rotation as he previously had tracks like “Action Jackson”, “Bout That Life” do really well as well as his projects “A.L.L. City” “Viernes Negro II” & “Young Champions” EP all were listener favorites. Well in December of 2012 he released the Still Out Here mixtape, and it featured some really dope cuts with production from mainly from the super talented Chase Moore & Hippie Sabotage but also Cardo, DJ Flow & more. “American Noire” is produced by Chase Moore & Hippie Sabotage and is currently #2. Check out the behind the scenes of how Plus came up with the track and how it fits into his latest mixtape, below:

The #3 track in Urban rotation is from San Jose’s very own, Ziggy & C-Note. “Can’t Hate” is the first leak off their upcoming collaborative project by the 21 year old emcee and 22 year old producer. The track features IQ (former KSJS DJ) on the hook and 2nd verse. Rumor is there is a video in the works for the track as well. Check out the track below:
