Raekwon Tops KSJS Urban Charts With the DJ Thoro Produced Cut, “86” Featuring Altrina Renee.
This week on KSJS’ Urban’s Top 40, veteran Wu-Tang emcee, Raekwon tops the charts. Note the tracks below are original versions, not radio edits, so caution is advised, as profanity is present.
A little more on the Top 5 Tracks this week:
Raekwon’s track “86” has quickly become a listener favorite, and is one of the several gems on the “Lost Jewelry” EP. The track features talented vocalist Altrina Renee, and is produced by DJ Thoro.
The number 2 track in our current rotation is “In The Middle” by producer, The Silent Titan, and features DMV emcee/producer, Oddisee. Courtesy of the good folks over at Foundation Promo & Soulspazm Records, The Silent Titan’s album “Outer Circle Movements” is half instrumental, and half vocal from the producer. The album also features Journalist 103, M.E.D., Rock of Heltah Skeltah, Prince Po & more. Check out “In the Middle” below:

The #3 track in rotation comes from Seattle emcee, J Pinder. He has had tracks in our rotation in the past, and now with the XXL Freshman class nomination, he is beginning to garner more attention, which is definetely deserved. The track “Illuminate” features is Choklate, and is produced by Kuddie Fresh. Shouts to Shocksound Promo. Check it out below:

The #4 track in rotation comes from none other than A$AP Rocky. He is one of the hottest acts in hip-hop at the moment, and his debut studio album, Long Live A$AP, has sold well despite leaking 5 weeks before its actual release date. The track lighting up our rotation is the posse cut, “1 Train” which is another banging Hit-Boy production and features the hottest names in hip-hop: Kendrick Lamar, Joey Bada$$, Yelawolf, Danny Brown, Action Bronson & Big K.R.I.T. each spitting bars (in that order), following A$AP starting it off. Check out the video below of A$AP discussing the track:
The track #5 track in rotation this week comes from KSJS alumn, and videographer/emcee Amadeuz Christ. The Bay Area recording artist drops this unreleased single, and though he seems to be more active in the video department, having directed music videos for the likes of Chuuwee, Locksmith, C Plus, Sahtyre, etc.., he proves here that he is still a very capable emcee as well. C Plus appears on the first verse, while Chase Moore is on the chorus, and produced the track. J Leake spits some surreal bars on the third verse to complete this dope posse cut from Amadeuz Christ. Our next add is from Richmond, CA emcee, Nio Tha Gift. Following the success of “Chain Reaction” on our airwaves. We have selected another track, also produced by Ekzakt, “Do or Die” for rotation. The track is another gem off Nio’s recent release “The Hustlers Spirit”. Nio Also recently dropped the remix to “Right Now” featuring IAMSU. Nio will be performing at California Dope in Downtown San Jose on February 22nd, Check out Do Or Die:

Another artist who will be performing at California Dope, is Sacramento’s C Plus. Plus has been in rotation several times on KSJS, most recently with “American Noire” but also in the past with tracks such as “Action Jackson” & “Bout That Life”. The track “All Nighter” is a dope flip of a memorable track off the Drive soundtrack, and one of the illest cuts off his mixtape, Still Out Here and Plus wastes no time goin in spitting “I’m Doing 80 on the highway, playin Donnie Hathaway, had to do it my way, tryin not to catch a case, I’m in the zone so I’m tryna make a stack a day, the only thing that make my heart beat at a rapid rate…” . Check out the track below:
Also added to rotation this week was the newest track from KonSci. “alancing between theoretical physics, the social sciences, and modern psychology is the focus of KON Sci of MindsOne’s new single “Possibilities” from the upcoming self-produced album “And Beyond”, which is slated for release on Soulspazm Records January 22, 2013. The MindsOne Rhymesayer expresses his interest in the wonders of the universe as well as the power of the mind in this second single from “And Beyond”. DJ Slim Deluxe provides a rhythmic cut section to enhance the resounding message of limitless potential and infinite possibilities. To compliment the release of “Possibilities”, KON Sci proudly presents a visual component, directed by Jones and Doc Mellan, further displaying his appreciation for the pursuit of knowledge.” Shouts to Foundation & Soulspazm on this track as well:
