Hopefully you’re all packed and ready to go – or almost packed – or at least you’ve thought about packing at this point. Serenity is almost here so here are a few reminders about box office times, camping, early arrival, parking, water supply, and packing out your trash. If you’re a seasoned camper or brand new to camping festivals, you should read up on the do’s and don’ts.
One of our favorite things about music festivals is the fact that you are guaranteed to find new music. We know you’ll be there to catch Troyboi, Kill the Noise, Emancipator, Medasin, and Mr. Carmack, but here are a few early and late sets that we recommend getting out of your campsite for.
Picture this – it’s Friday evening, you just arrived a few hours ago, you’ve pitched your tent, raised the canopy, introduced yourself to your camp to your neighbors, and you are ready to get your night started. The New Moon Stage will have Oakland’s own, Spekt1 on at 10:00 PM. Incorporating Hip-Hop, Dubstep, Glitch-Hop, and some Future-Beat, this will be a versatile set to get the party going.
Did someone say “house music”? Yes – this Dirtybird Player will be spinning all the house your camp needs to hear on that late-night hype. The Cove Stage will host this dance party at 1:15 AM Friday night (Saturday morning). Bring a bandana or face scarf to this – we’re going to be kicking up some dust.
Asteroids And Earthquakes
If you’re out late or up really early, the New Moon Stage will have LA based Producer, Asteroids And Earthquakes on at about 5:45 AM Saturday. A trappy mix of Swamptronic, Freeform Bass, and Ambient vibes, this will an unusually intimate set worth waking up early or not going to sleep for!
The Serenity Stage, or “main stage” as you’ll soon be calling it, will host the Aussie producer going by Hydraulix Saturday night at 8:00 PM. Known for his high-energy sets, you’ll get a mix of Rap, Hip-Hop, Heavy Bass, EDM, Trap, and Trip-Hop.
By day 3, you might be tired, cranky, dirty, sore from dancing, or just ready to sleep in your own bed, but at about 6:00 PM on Sunday, Soulestial, a Multi-Instrumentalist, Composer, sound healer based in the San Francisco Bay area will be doing his thing at the Heart of Serenity Stage. No matter how you’re feeling, this set will revive you and have you wishing you didn’t have to leave the next day.
Don’t forget to check out the Psyrenity Stage for dope immersive visuals. There will also be Yoga and Dance workshops and a Sound Temple with sound healing, vocal alchemy, meditation, and more at the Heart of Serenity Stage throughout the day.
Be ready for good times, beautiful landscapes, great music, and new memories. See you at Serenity! -Deanna Boutte
