After a 2-year hiatus, the Lightning in a Bottle festival is making its return to Buena Vista Lake. The lake is located in Kern County, CA, 25 miles from Bakersfield, and the festivities will take place this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, May 25-30, 2022. Advertised as more than just a festival, the Do LaB creators emphasize this event as an experience that aims to highlight connection, expression, and creativity. At LiB, festival-goers can expect to be immersed in music, art and culture throughout 5 days. With over 100 artists spread across 6 music stages, yoga/dance classes as well as interactive art spaces, discussion panels and workshops, Lightning in a Bottle has a lot to offer.
LiB is all-encompassed by electronic music. Each stage has its own unique setup, vision, and style of programming. The Lightning stage is the main stage. This year’s headliners include Glass Animals, Kaytranada, & GRiZ. Both the Woogie stage and the Junkyard stage range from house to techno, while the Thunder stage and The Stacks stage showcase bass music. Notable acts playing the Woogie stage are Big Wild & GoldLink. The Stacks will feature a special 4-hour set from Soulection’s Joe Kay. Lastly, The Grand Artique stage puts on a wild west theme. Lightning in a Bottle will certainly keep you on your toes and keep your ears wet.
On top of the music, there will be an array of classes and activities taking place at LiB. These include Yoga & Movement, Art & Interactivity and ArtClave & Painting. If you want to take a break from music, you can head over to one of these activities to get your mind & body moving in other ways. Rest is always an option as well. Considered another festival within a festival, Lightning in a Bottle’s Compass environment provides even more music, learning, and culture programming. This is where there will be scheduled talks, discussions, panels, and workshops led by visionaries, experts, and thought-leaders.
If you are interested in attending, more information and tickets are available at https://www.libfestival.org/tickets. Keep in mind that there is tent/car camping included in the ticket packages, which I believe is always half the fun. Be prepared to get down & dirty all week long at Lightning in a Bottle 2022!
