Office
The Office Department is the heart and soul of the day-to-day operations at KSJS. The Office Department assists other departments when problems arise. This department supports the General Manager, Management Team and the general business operations of KSJS. The Office Department is the beginning of the on going process by greeting the public, answering the phones, or responding to station emails. This department will challenge your skills, endurance and creativity on how well you execute your job. Some of the basic duties of The Office Department include: filing, sorting mail, logistics, sending and answer station emails, printing and creating forms, data entry, archive and cleanliness and tidiness of office, studio and lounge. There is a place for you in every department here at KSJS! So if you’re into working behind the scenes or in the office, this may be the place for you! No prior experience required.
Fabulously serving with effervescent exuberance! We are the place to be professionally silly.

Production
Production is a small but essential department within KSJS. Production makes pre-recorded audio clips that can be played on the air with the push of a button. Promos, sound effects, and public service announcements all have to be made and air by a deadline. Basically if it’s on KSJS and it’s not a DJ or music, someone spent hours in the production studio making it. The Production group is made up of extremely talented and creative people who toil for hours in the recording studio, manipulating 30 seconds of sound to be exactly what they want.Their efforts make the station more colorful and enjoyable for the listener, and gives our DJs a variety of options to play during their stop sets, holidays, or special programming.
A place for creatives of all types to unite… from writing, to recording, to editing, and more… the production department works as a team to deliver entertaining and informative content to our listeners

Production Director
Promotions
KSJS Promotions is all about getting to know people. Whether it’s handing out flyers on campus or spreading the word to local businesses, our job is to shake some hands and have fun while doing it. In the Promotions Department, you will learn many important skills necessary to succeed. Being a part of KSJS means knowing about the station, and being able to better represent KSJS in your everyday life.
We got you covered on everything from KSJS socials, events, and ticket giveaways. The promotions department always has something going on. It’s the perfect place to slay.

Social Media
This department curates all the social media presence KSJS works to put out as we promote the underground Bay Area scene on SJSU campus. We collaborate with other departments in various contents, medias and platforms. We are active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok and this website under the @ksjsfm handle! KSJS supports our djs, our students, our management and the underground artists along with the local music venues that we work closely with. You can find a link to each social media platform to your right.
We strive to establish and maintain positive communication between the station, our listeners, artists, and the communities we serve. We love to make engaging content that allows the world a sneak peak into operations of KSJS as well as encouraging all SJSU or Open University students to explore the world of college radio. Our social media has made it possible for anyone to peak into the college radio world, so go ahead and check us out.
Social media has allowed us to promote and engage in new music, conduct ticket giveaways and show you a behind the scenes of our radio station operations. We are in a technological era and social media is an important tool in the work space, which KSJS can provide you with these experiences. What other class would allow you to set up an interview with Myth Buster co-host, Adam Savage on a random Saturday?

Social Media Director
Sports
The Sports department is dedicated to broadcasting Spartan Athletics on KSJS. Broadcasts include: football, baseball, hockey, soccer, volleyball, and men and women’s basketball. Along with providing commentary on the air, the sports department also collaborates with KSJS members to support the broadcasts and the teams. Broadcasters from KSJS have won awards and gone on to professional positions. To become a broadcaster or board-operator, students must have taken RTVF 21 and passed the final to become on-air eligible. Those who are not on-air eligible but are enrolled in RTVF 121 can still be a part of the sports department by keeping stats for the broadcast and attending SJSU sporting events. All games can be streamed in the link under ksjs.org/listen or you can turn your radio dial to 90.5 FM KSJS.
Being in the sports department provides you with so much valuable experience. Not only are you are learning the behind the scenes to production in sports, but you’ll also make lifelong friends along the way.
Mark Aziz
Sports Director
Traffic
The Traffic Department at KSJS is responsible for all non-music programming that goes over the airwaves. The Traffic Dept. creates an hourly traffic log for the on air DJs, specifying the times certain recorded or lives spots should go over the airwaves. New KSJS members are encouraged to join the Traffic Dept. because it allows them to get familiar with on-air DJ operations. “Hours” (Credit to Pass RTVF 121) can be obtained by helping the Traffic Director create & correct the Traffic logs, helping file older traffic logs, organizing PSA’s and other clerical tasks. Non Profit businesses that would like to get their message on the air should email [email protected]
Traffic is where you learn about the underlying structure of our on-air programming. In this department we set up a foundation for our amazing DJs to help them focus on continuing to bring listeners great music.
