Now, I’ve never been to a nightclub before, let alone for a concert. Though, going to one even if it’s just for work didn’t make it less scary. I hadn’t even heard of BOLO and I had a hard time finding out who he was online so I was going in completely blind not even knowing what kind of music I’d be hearing. But, thankfully, I happened to be in for a pleasant surprise.
Despite my fears of what kind of environment I’d be subjecting myself to, I soon began to notice that BOLO has a very positive, supportive community of fans attending his concert. The crowd was more massive than any concert I’ve been to and while I didn’t dare enter the thick of the crowd, my anxieties of a potentially terrifying nightclub experience were quickly quelled by the social atmosphere of the crowd while I was going around trying to take good pictures. I was personally very captivated by the flashing graphic effects they showed on the big screen they had at the venue.
Regarding BOLO himself, it was also my first time experiencing live Latin electronic music and it was clear how much his roots are a source of pride for himself as well as the audience. One of the most memorable and endearing things from that night was someone up front excitedly holding up a Mexican flag at the beginning of the concert as things were slowly getting hyped up. Even while I was in work mode and trying to focus with my camera, I just wanted to put it down and just relax while dancing with the rest of the crowd. Even from far away, I could tell BOLO was a very chill guy every time he interacted with the crowd, all pump
ed up with his upbeat, lively music that can allow you to get lost in the groove even for just a moment.
At the end of the night, I can positively say that I was feeling more relaxed and relieved compared to walking in. I’ll definitely be checking out more of his songs if I ever need some good vibes to calm my head again.
