Concert/Festival Review – Lighting in a Bottle 2026

By Andrew Reyes

Lighting in a Bottle 2026 came like a flash of lightning and was followed by the most glorious roll of electronic thunder. Although the festival has since come to a close, I cannot help but close my eyes and wish I were still hanging out with all the new friends I made in the warm sun at Buena Vista Lake, CA. Artists like Sara Landry, Desert Hearts, Zeds Dead, Mau P, Empire of the Sun, and so many more took this experience to the next level. It has left an impression that will stay with me forever, and I want to give a HUGE shout out to 90.5 KSJS for allowing me the opportunity to experience and share something so pure; I am forever grateful! To any readers who are curious about a fun music festival to attend, buckle up! Before continuing this review, I must add that even though I am not a newbie to festivals – having attended EDC, Northern Nights, Coachella, Beyond Wonderland, and Hardfests (to name a few) – I was thoroughly impressed by how the Flemming brothers’ vision came to life all weekend.

I will give you all some “Tips and Tricks” I learned for YOUR first Lightning in a Bottle experience. Let us begin with the camping experience. You have the option of choosing between a 3 or 5-day festival pass and the event requires a good amount of planning and preparation; no, you do not HAVE to camp, they also provide glamping and hotel packages.  Meal and supply preparation for the days to come will save you money in the long run. Do not be surprised to pay the price for offered amenities like warm showers, groceries and supplies from the general stores, as well as the immense variety of food vendors throughout the event. Bringing all your needed supplies, like a tent, a canopy, battery packs, toiletries, and extra changes of clothes, will make your experience more comfortable. However, be prepared to indulge, because in my opinion, an event like this is priceless and worth every penny. Arriving at the festival included a long queue of cars, as the will-call lines, where you retrieve your festival and camping pass, took some time to get through. Once inside theWow campgrounds, event personnel guide you to your appropriate area. I opted for solo car camping and once I found my spot, I quickly began to set up. I noticed that most attendees arrived on Thursday and Friday, as there was a good amount of campsite space for the first couple of days. If you want to have close access to the festival entrance, your best bet will be to arrive early; otherwise, you risk having to walk farther if you choose to arrive later.

Once my setup was complete, I was able to kick up my feet and look over the setlist to decide on which artists I wanted to see the most. One aspect of camping that took me by surprise was the overwhelmingly positive and welcoming environment that I was surrounded by in the campsite and throughout the festival. I immediately introduced myself to my neighbors and found the newfestival fam that I basically spent the weekend with. I came to realize that festival attendees from all over the West Coast and beyond were united by music, freedom, and curiosity.

This festival provides what I would describe as a “choose-your-adventure” experience, so bring the good vibes and keep an open mind; being able to express yourself and connect with others was one of the best parts of my experience. Walking to the festival entrance took me less than 10 minutes to reach from my campsite. Do note: the closer people got to the entrance, the more feet were kicking up dust all at once; having a face mask or moist bandana to cover your face is essential for anyone with respiratory conditions; on that matter, earplugs and sunglasses (or goggles) would also come in handy if you plan on venturing deep into the crowds and sound stages. For the early risers, you can start your morning with yoga, painting, or simply lying out by the lake. I was surprised to see all the workshops and activities LIB had to offer. Aside from the activities and immense layout, I was absolutely blown away by the numerous art installations, hideaway hangouts, and unique spaces around the festival. I made a joke with fellow campmates that I could imagine someone spending their entire weekend exploring and going on sidequests without ever seeing a stage.Alien

Once the sun hits high noon, the festival pulse starts to reverberate throughout the grounds and by the time the sun goes down, the festival comes alive with brightly colored DJ floats, neon palm trees, and excited attendees going from stage to stage. Lightning and Thunder were the names of the main stages, but I most often found myself at the smaller stages like The Woogie Stage or The Junkyard (my favorite). Furthermore, the energy from Friday and Saturday night was peak! Mau P’s house set was a proper groove to keep the crowd moving and Sara Landry’s 150+ bpm techno set absolutely super-charged fans and gave enough fuel to dance well into the early morning. That pure energy carried into Saturday like a dream and one name that stands out in my mind was Desert Hearts! Mikey Lion and Papa Lee Reynold’s Junk Runner set took me to another dimension! They had the perfect cocktail of bass house and techno that moved my soul. To cap off the weekend, big names like Mochakk and Empire of the Sun ended things right! You will not be disappointed by all the artists and electric performances that rocked all night until 6 am!

As I write this review, I cannot help but feel that Lightning in a Bottle 2026 was more than a music festival. The experience of camping with friends and connecting with such a positive music-loving community was so spectacular that these memories will last a lifetime. I would recommend this festival to anyone who has a heart for adventure. This event checked all the right boxes. Lightning in a Bottle gets an “A” rating for its immersive experience that will stay with you forever; LIB 2027 cannot come soon enough!
