Earlier this month I had the pleasure of catching a Pink Panthress show at the Masonic in San Francisco. I first learned of the British singer-songwriter from various TikTok videos that used her song “Boy’s a Liar Pt.2” featuring Ice Spice, and I later learned that she began her career while attending university in London in 2021. She garnered much more popularity and won the BBC’s Sound of 2022 poll and Producer of the Year by Billboard Women in 2024. My social media algorithm has almost exploded with her unique tracks and sounds. She’s become a household name for the new wave of young musicians and music-lovers alike.

If I’m completely honest, it was just outside my personal event preference, but I’m a music fan through and through and given some of the hype, I was happy to attend the show. Off the bat, I was impressed by the age demographic. From super fans to curious concert-goers, the vibe was inviting for all as I saw a wide range of both adults and young adults. I seemed to have caught onto the fashion memo as it turned out that most attendees were wearing plaid; a signature school-uniform style look Pink Panthress often wears. Having been my first time attending the Masonic I also felt a sense of awe from the venue’s architecture in addition to the location being at the top of California Street; Epic location, to say the least.

Once inside, the rush and excitement to check out merchandise, grab food and beverages and quickly find your seats seemed to be on everyone’s mind. Her tour included the opening act from Bedroom DJ (Nick Cheo), who started the good vibes early on and helped satisfy the excitement of the crowd. When the show curtains finally drew open and her addictive mix of UK garage and drum and bass filled the theatre. Her act included her top tracks and her backup dancers matched her energy as neon laser lights flashed and beamed through the night.

Overall, I’ll definitely be on the look out for the next time she’s in the Bay!

  1. I think everyone is familiar with Pink Pantheress now because of Alysa Liu. The fact that her song Stateside reached #1 on Spotify clearly proves that. I wonder if she performed that song for this concert as well. It’s awesome that you got to see her live, I didn’t even know she was a British singer until now. I’m off to experience some UK garage now….
