FEB 22 – San José State just couldn’t seem to find an answer for San Diego State’s efficient offense today, dropping the contest 82-60. With this loss, the Lady Spartans fall to 9-12 in conference play, and 10-18 overall.
- Amiah Simmons led the scoring effort with 22 pts, alongside 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Simmons has now put up at least double digits in the scoring column in 11 of the last 12 games.
- Riley Waugh put up 12 points and 3 rebounds, while going a perfect 10-10 from the free throw line. Waugh has now put up at least 10 points in 3 of the last 4 games.
- Sydni Summers notched 9 pts, including a 3-PT. Summers has made at least one 3-pointer in each of her last 11 games.
- Hennie Van Schaik led the team with 8 rebounds. This marks the most rebounds in a game Van Schaik has gotten since SJSU faced LMU back in December.
The Spartans did well to improve upon their play and minimize any issues they had been having all season. SJSU went 19-23 from the charity stripe, turned the ball over just 11 times, and put up 22 points inside the paint. Unfortunately, SDSU put up 23 points in the 1st quarter and never looked back. The Aztecs shot 43% from the field and 38% from beyond the arc, while SJSU shot 28% and 26% respectively. San Diego State held the lead for 39:40 seconds, with the game being tied for the remaining 20 seconds.
The Spartans head to Logan to take on the Utah State Aggies on Wednesday, February 26th. The game is slated to start at 4 PM PST.
